Yep, there's a difference, the Whitetail call will at times bring a w/t closer for inspection - a mulie call will leave you sitting in the bush making noise! Try raking horns for both as it tends to have better results, whitetails will come out in the open if you can sit still enough, mulies will just come to a brushline mostly. Of course there will be giuys that claim to call in mulies all the time (Al) but don't count on it, more than anything you will just give away your location and blow your cover. Where the call really holds value is in stopping a moving animal, I like the coyote whistle for that though. Good luck.

Talking Calling Mulies

LOL thanks for the introduction open-sights (I think) For the most part open-sights is correct. I have called in a ton of Mulelys --5 of my 4x4 or better bucks were called in as close as 5 to 10 yards and as far as 250 yards most are shot at about 25 yards. Biggest called in buck to date is my 6x7. I haven't called whitetail much (don't really hunt them) but they definately don't like the call I use for Muley's the time or two I have watched them. A lot of my success is indeed the fact that I go where few others do and I know when and where to set up for calling. Antler ratting for Muley's combined with calling also works very well at the right time of year and it will certainly induce big bucks to ROAR which will send shivers down your spine for a week!! At one time I had three of them roaring at me and ended up taking a small buck (3x3) at about 15 feet.

For a better description of the way I hunt go to the LOUNGE section and click on Member Submitted stories -- got a couple of Muley stories there.

I have called in mulies - both does and bucks - using nothing more than a fawn bleat.

Buck grunts on the other hand will at times bring in flag-tails during the rut but at best will stop a mulie for a bit.

WOW those Langley deer must really be something....they demonstrate habits that we have never noticed in a real deer hunting situation anywhere north of Hope. LOL........my take is to take your advice from AL ;-)

If it is just the bleat call (doe/fawn) then it may work. The one I used on Whitetail does was a fawn bleat and it did not work worth a dam. It did however "confuse" a large whitetail buck last year -- but there were a lot of Muley's in the area as well.

LOL open sights I just KNOW when some one is talking about me on here -- I have MANY spies lol -- Great times lol

Aspen what area do you live in??

I find a grunt works wonders in the timber. Have had them running right at me in the thick stuff. Have tried to call them across clearing though, and never had any success.

Smile

I don't have a whitetail call mostly because I rarely hunt them they just happen to be around where I hunt Elk. So I don't know if the call will work on Muley's. I am laid up right now with a broken leg but next year or maybe later this year I could take you out and show you how I call Mulies.
