That is not really true. There are still millions of acres of prime hunting in the lower 48 States on public land and even more on private property. If anything the Americans manage their remaining resources better than we do. The biggest problems down there is the crowding found on public lands and the costs associated with hunting private property. Most of the Americans I have talked to over the years who have relocated to Canada claim it is the lack of human pressure found while hunting or fishing that has attracted them here. It has little to do with the quantity or quality of the animals found in the US.

I just received another e-mail from the GOABC and find it rather odd that they send TWO of these within about 8 hours concerning a person that, they say, is NOT among their membership.......hmmmmm
In this missive, none other than Bryan Martin himself, no less, honours we miserable Canuck peasants with an arrogant "explanation" of his illegal actions. In addition to stating that he was being a good guy by breaking our laws, he then actually states that the persons making the comments concerning this on the 'net, have probably committed far more wildlife violations here in B.C. than he has....and this refers to me, among others. I "think" that this comment may be actionable for defamation and am considering my options in this respect. I WILL NOT tolerate a criminal foreigner like Martin making such false and vindictive comments about me or any other decent B.C. conservationist. What a totally self-serving, deceitful and utterly contemptible litte man. He also tells how the CO's were SO impressed by him, well, the one I spoke with certainly was not and I trust a B.C. CO's word over that of this criminal. Let's flood Victoria with letters DEMANDING an end to allowing ANY foreign investment-influence in B.C. GO licences, territories and equipment. Martin is NOT the first, or, the only guy to operate in breach and contempt of our laws. Oh, poor boy, he is SELLING his GO business....the gov't. should EXPROPRIATE it, equipment and all and deport his ass back to the U.S.A.! Last edited by kutenay : 05-15-2008 at 05:30 PM. |

Boo,
I agree that there really is some wonderful hunting in the lower 48 states. I have a 6x7 bull elk from Utah that would be hard to beat anywhere in Canada. I have taken whitetails in Montana and Alabama that would be trophy class anywhere in Canada. What is so attactive about Canada is the vast areas of public land and wilderness. I hear the siren song of wild country,it calls me just like it does many of you. I have always loved the people that I've hunted with in Canada as well, but I've always made it a point to hunt in Canada with Canadians who were born in the country we hunted. It is up to Canadians to set the policy for hunting your country,I just hope that people like me in the US with family ties and a love for your country will be able to find a way to come and hunt there. There are lots of other places to go,but my friends are in Canada not somewhere else. PS Until recently,I had no idea that Canadian sportsmen could not bring firearms into the US. Totally unfair,if anybody ever wants to come hunt with me,I'll be happy to lend anything you need. I have a nice new hunting cabin and some pretty tremendous hunting and fishing. Some of the best times are January and Febuary when it's kinda nasty cold up north. So.... if any of you guys would like to talk about coming here, let me know. Britt Last edited by ruraldoc : 05-16-2008 at 10:13 AM. |
